Springfield Youth Symphony's Spring Concert

The Springfield Youth Symphony is sponsored financially by the Springfield Public Schools and supported by The Friends of the Springfield Youth Symphony, a parent booster organization. Since its founding in 1957, the Springfield Youth Symphony has provided outstanding young musicians with an opportunity to study and perform the standard orchestral repertoire. Members range in age from 14 to 18 and are auditioned from the Springfield Public Schools and the surrounding communities. The second Youth Symphony concert of the season is Tuesday May 3rd at 7:30pm in the Glendale High School auditorium, 2727 S. Ingram Mill Road. The orchestra's conductor, Andy Johnston, actually wears several different musical hats within the Springfield Public School system: he's also the Orchestra Director at Glendale High School, and he teaches beginning 5th-grade strings at four elementary schools.
